Participation – There are many ways that organizations, companies, and groups can participate in the Marlborough Labor Day Parade July 15, is the participation commitment deadline for the 2017 parade. The electronic participation application can be accessed from this website under the Application/Donations/Contacts tab.


FLOATS – Floats are desirable and encouraged in the parade.  They may take many forms including  car, truck or other motorized (road-safe) vehicle, or a towed platform trailer. Floats must be decorated and no taller than 12 feet from the ground. Tight tolerance of corners must be considered when building or hiring a company to create a float. Organizations may also work with the parade’s float contractor to design their float. Additional rules regarding floats can be found in the Marlborough Labor Day Parade Manual, which can be downloaded by clicking on the link below.

AWARDS! – Much care and creativity goes into each float. Floats are judged on creativity and the care taken to create an eye catching float.  All floats that are decorated in some manner by participants are eligible to compete.

MARCH UNITS – (including but not limited to Marching Bands, Riding Bands, Vehicles Playing Music, Reenactment Units, March Units for float or vehicles, Motor Performance Vehicles, Vintage Vehicles, Motor Vehicles, Civic Groups, Equestrian, Dancers and Twirlers) – All of these forms of entertainment are welcome to submit their participation application . Groups should indicate in their application –  if they will sponsor their own unit,  – if they require a sponsor, –  or if they require payment for their participation.

CONTRACTS/DONATIONSOnce participant applications are received, reviewed and approved, letters/contracts of acceptance will be sent by the City of Marlborough to  2017 parade participants. Upon receipt of the parade contract, contracted units and floats must return the completed contracts  to the address noted on the contract by August 15th, 2017. All groups are encouraged to submit donations with their completed contract at the suggested sponsorship levels noted on this website (the amount that corresponds with their participation unit and best describes their participation level in the parade) Units that require payment must include their tax id numbers in their application to ensure timely payment.

CAMPAIGN AND POLITICAL CANDIDATES – Political entries are assigned into the Line of March in a defined order based on the application/payment receipt date.
